On the occasion of Professor Bernhard Schreflers 70th birthday, his friends, colleagues, as well as former PhDs, intend to honor his invaluable contribution and his devotion to the academic life and research. Professor Schrefler is a major Italian pioneer in the field of computational mechanics. In this middle of the Sixties, just after his degree in civil Engineering, he was one of the firsts to recognize the tremendous impact that computational mechanics would have had in any field of engineering. For this reasons he went to Swansea, one of the most important places where that, at the time new and very promising, knowledge was under development. He has over forty years experience in research, with more than 400 publications and several books published.
This book contains several original papers covering a wide range of topics and offering an excellent overview of the international state of art in computational mechanics.
