The book present a novel approach to the problem of Characterising and Controlling generic dynamic systems without a-priori knowledge of their structure. The approach stems from the concept of Eingenvalue Orbits which provide a new means of viewing the general transient and stability properties of dynamic systems. The basic properties of Eigenvalue Orbits are illustrated via numerous examples. In particular Eigevalue Orbits of nonlinear systems such as the Lorenz, Duffing and Van de Pol oscillators, are discussed in a system monitoring perspective. It is also shown that the theory of Eigenvalue Orbits provides a formal basis for model-free control of generic dynamic systems or processes and examples of this type of control are shown throughout of this type pf control are shown throughout the text
