The field of structural control han considerably grown over the last two decades with the overall scope of viewing the structures as dynamic systems able to monitor its state in real time and automatically react against environmental loads to keep desired responses.
A Vigorous multidisciplinary research and development effort has been required to go from conceptual ideas to practical achievements in the real world. This book joins a group of recent contributions to the field in the form of new concepts, tools and applications. Ranging from mathematical formulations to very practical issues at infraestructure level the book deals with such key topics as observability and controllability in a distributed parameter systems setting, risk-averse control, model-free approaches, stability based control for uncertain structures, semiactive control, spillover, decentralized control, H tools, combination of control and structural design, fuzzy controllers, adaptive structures, experimental setups, the role of structural control in historical constructions, seismic base isolation smart infraestructure systems and integrated hazard mitigation systems.
