This book is a collection of the articles written in celebration of the 60th birthday of Thomas Hughes, a phenomenal leader in finite element methods and computational mechanics.

Tom Hughes made pioneering contributions in many fronts in these fields and has been a prime mover in bringing these fields to a new era. We see all of this in the contributions he made directly, in the contributions he made through the students he trained and associates he guided, and in the contributions made by the friends and colleagues he inspired. Tom Hughes friends, colleagues,and former students and associates wrote the articles in this book. The articles are categorized into five themes: structural mechanics, time-integration methods, stabilized methods, fluid mechanics, and iterative and parallel computing methods.
